Martin Moore on Sine Die

As the Washington State Legislature adjourns Sine Die, an on behalf of the members of the 30th District Democrats, I want to extend our sincere gratitude to our outstanding 30th District legislative delegation — Senator Claire Wilson, Representative Jamila Taylor, and Representative Kristine Reeves — for their tireless work on behalf of the people of our district and communities across Washington.

This legislative session demonstrated what thoughtful, values driven leadership can accomplish. Our delegation remained focused on the issues that matter most to working families: education, justice, and ensuring that no one in our communities goes hungry.

We are extraordinarily proud of Senator Claire Wilson for her leadership in advancing early learning across Washington. Her legislation, SB 5872, creates an account to accept funds from a new grant that will expand Washington’s Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP), helping more children and families access high quality early learning opportunities and setting students up for success from the very beginning.

Representative Jamila Taylor has led efforts to strengthen Washington’s justice system by advancing reforms that reduce burdensome court fines and fees and improve fairness in our courts. She has also worked to expand the Covenant Homeownership Program and improve protections for children and survivors in family court. Her work helps expand opportunity while ensuring our legal system better serves Washington families.

Representative Kristine Reeves played a key role in advancing efforts to strengthen Washington’s food security system. Through legislation such as HB 2238, she helped move forward a statewide strategy to address hunger while supporting partnerships between farmers, food banks, and community organizations. As Chair of the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee, she has also helped lead broader efforts to strengthen Washington’s food supply and support the state’s agricultural economy.

Together, this team demonstrates what principled public service looks like. Their dedication, collaboration, and commitment to working families help make Washington a stronger and more compassionate place for all.

After a well deserved period of rest following a busy legislative session, we will be gearing up to ensure our delegation is re elected and returned to Olympia to continue this important work. As Chair of the 30th District Democrats, I am extremely proud that our members gave an early and decisive endorsement to Senator Claire Wilson, Representative Jamila Taylor, and Representative Kristine Reeves. Their leadership has delivered results for our communities, and we look forward to continuing the work together.
