About Our Endorsements

The 30th District Democrats carefully considers endorsements as an important way to support candidates and initiatives that reflect Democratic values and serve the communities of the 30th Legislative District.

Our endorsement process is governed by our bylaws and is designed to be thoughtful, transparent, and member-driven. Candidates are typically reviewed by the Endorsements Committee, which may make recommendations to the membership. Final endorsements require strong support from our voting members.

Only candidates and ballot measures that will appear on ballots within the 30th Legislative District are eligible for endorsement. In addition, the organization does not endorse candidates who are members of another political party.

Through this process, our members help ensure that the candidates and initiatives we endorse reflect the priorities and values of Democrats across our district.

Sec. 1) A vote to endorse following a positive recommendation from the Endorsements Committee shall require a sixty percent (60%) approval of eligible members present and voting. A vote to endorse following a motion from the floor shall require a seventy-five percent (75%) approval of eligible voters present and voting.

Sec. 2) Any endorsement can be revoked by eligible members present and voting. Any revocation must include notice to involved parties and is subject to all terms for endorsement.

Sec. 3) It shall not be permitted to endorse any candidate who is known to be a member of any other political party. This includes known members of the Republican, Libertarian, Reform, American Taxpayer, and any other party recognized with party status by the Secretary of State’s office.

Sec. 4) Only incumbent candidates filing for re-election and previously endorsed by the 30th District Democrats qualify for early endorsement (prior to the close of filing) by the general membership through a motion from the floor. All other early endorsements must come as a recommendation from the Endorsements Committee.
