Happy Pride Month.

Pride Month is both a celebration and a reminder that the fight for equality, dignity, and belonging is far from over.

From harmful rhetoric and divisive policies we continue to see nationally from Congress and the White House, to local debates right here in Federal Way about representation, inclusion, and whether people feel seen and welcomed in their own community — there have been real setbacks. For many LGBTQ+ neighbors, families, students, and young people, those setbacks are personal.

But Pride has always been about resilience, visibility, and refusing to go backwards.

This month, we celebrate love, authenticity, and the courage of those who continue to speak up and show up — even when it’s difficult. And we recommit ourselves to the work ahead: building communities and a country where everyone is treated with respect, protected equally, and welcomed for exactly who they are.

We still have work to do. But we do that work together.
