International Women’s Day

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day and recognize the many women who serve, lead, and make a difference across the 30th Legislative District. Throughout Southwest King County and Northwest Pierce County, women are shaping stronger communities through public service, education, advocacy, business leadership, and grassroots organizing. Their work improves lives, expands opportunity, and strengthens the foundation of our democracy.

We are especially grateful for the women who represent and serve our district with dedication and integrity, including Claire Wilson, Jamila Taylor, Kristine Reeves, and local leaders such as Lydia Assefa-Dawson. Their commitment to public service reflects the strength, resilience, and vision that women bring to leadership at every level.

Across the 30th Legislative District, women are advancing policies that expand access to healthcare, strengthen economic opportunity, support working families, protect civil rights, and build more inclusive communities. Their leadership reminds us that progress is made when diverse voices are at the table and when barriers to opportunity are challenged and removed.

International Women’s Day is both a celebration and a call to action. While we recognize the achievements of women in our district and across the country, we also reaffirm our commitment to advancing equity, supporting women candidates, and creating pathways for future leaders to step forward. Our strength as a party and as a community comes from ensuring that leadership reflects the people we serve.

As Chair of the 30th District Democrats, I am proud to recognize and thank the many women whose leadership continues to move our district forward. Today and every day, we celebrate your contributions, your advocacy, and your commitment to building a more just, inclusive, and thriving community for all.

Happy International Women’s Day.
