WELCOME
The 30th District Democrats are “Defending Our Constitution and Restoring Our Democracy”. To do so, we’re developing the capacity of our organization in a manner that will promote and encourage widespread participation in all of our democratic processes.
Many of us feel that the current tactics, strategies and goals of the Democratic Party (and the language commonly used within current political debate) is not adequately addressing our current political crisis. We need to change the focus of the discussion in a manner that will Defend Our Constitution and that will bring many people together in Restoring Our Democracy.
Margaret Mead once said “Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that every has.”
The 30th District Democrats will be that small group of people who will return political discourse to the most fundamental levels of communities and precincts. This is where the building of widespread democratic participation begins. You are more than encouraged to join with us!

UPDATES/NEWS–FLASH
LD CAUCUS MARCH 14th
The 30th Legislative District Democratic Caucus will be held on MARCH 14th at Federal Way High School. Doors will open at Noon, and we hope to begin at 1:00pm.
Many people make the mistake of thinking that this a 30th LD Democrats event. Actually, the 30th LD Democrats are only the hosts. This is a community event for all registered voters of the 30th LD to participate in and vote upon matters before the body.
If we want to Defend Our Constitution and Restore Our Democracy — if we want to turn back the theft of our Federal Treasury and our own pocket books — we need to involve ourselves in the our democratic processes, and we need to involve others. The 30th Legislative District Democratic Caucus represents a great opportunity to come out, get to know the hosts, and start making a difference.
When we say “the doors open at noon,” that’s when we’re going to start setting things up. It’s not a huge job, but we’ll start at noon. If you want to come down, hang out, pitch in a hand and just get to talking, well, we’ll bet you’ll have a good time.
Our LD Caucus/Platform has more information about the caucus, including the proposed agenda, proposed rules, State Rules, etc.
ONGOING EVENTS
INTERIM KING COUNTY FEMALE DELEGATE
Jean Matthew, as appointed by our Chairperson, will serve as the interim Female Delegate to the King County Democrats Central Committee. Jean will continue her work on the Legislative Action Committee, and has agreed to represent the 30th LD Democrats until a new Female Delegate can be recruited.
Thanx for your hard work and extra effort, Jean.
BUSINESS CARDS AVAILABLE
New 30th LD Business cards are now available for all members, PCOs and officers of the organization. The final design for the business cards is based upon the input of several members within the LD (in other words, if you use your voice, your ideas are generally incorporated into the final decisions).
Business cards are a great way to promote the organization, inform others of our growing website, and to otherwise build the 30th LD Democrats. Many times through discussion, we find people who want to get involved in making the community and nation a better place to live. Business cards help ensure that such people can easiy find our organization’s contact information, and have the opportunity to contribute their talents and ideas.
Please contact either Tim Burns or Kurt Peppard to order your business cards.
WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT CONTINUES
Our website continues to grow. As more members contribute new materials, we’ll continue to expand.
We’re pleased to announce that interns from Seattle Central Community College will be taking on this website as a project. The project will include development of database capabilities, as well as a content management system. The content management system (CMS) will allow many people to contribute and participate directly on the website.
As the CMS/database project continues, we’ll also be developing a good set of open source tools made easy to use for small, less financially–fortunate organizations such as ours.
A special thanx goes to Heather Ota. Heather originally inspired the idea to get a community college involved.
